🌿 TouchGrass – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

TouchGrass ("the app", "we", "our") is a mobile application that encourages you to spend more time outdoors. It automatically tracks outdoor sessions using GPS and Health Connect, lets you set daily/weekly goals, sends smart reminders, and shows your progress over time.

This Privacy Policy explains what data the app processes, why, and how it is protected. By using TouchGrass you agree to the practices described below.

2. Data We Process

The table below lists every type of data the app accesses, its purpose, and whether it leaves your device.

3. On-Device Storage

All personal data — including your location history, outdoor sessions, health activity records, and app settings — is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 4 (weather API).

We operate no backend servers, user accounts, cloud sync, or analytics pipeline.

4. Weather Data (Open-Meteo)

To improve outdoor detection accuracy, the app may send your approximate GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) to the Open-Meteo API to retrieve a local weather forecast. No other personal information is included in these requests.

Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather API that does not require an API key and does not store user data. You can review their privacy practices at open-meteo.com/en/terms.

5. No Advertising or Analytics SDKs

TouchGrass contains:

• No advertising SDKs
• No analytics or crash-reporting services (e.g. Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry)
• No third-party tracking or attribution libraries
• No in-app purchases or payment processors

6. Voluntary Feedback & Crash Reporting via Google Forms

The app provides an optional feedback form and a crash reporting button, both hosted on Google Forms. Submitting feedback and crash reports is entirely voluntary. When you choose to report a crash by tapping "Report this issue", your device type and app version are automatically pre-filled into the report form and will be sent to Google. No other personal data (location, health, sessions) is included. Any information you submit through Google Forms is handled by Google LLC under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy before submitting a report.

7. Permissions We Request

• Location (foreground & background): Required to detect whether you are currently outdoors.
• Health Connect / Activity Recognition: Required to read step counts and exercise session data for activity tracking.
• Calendar (read & write): Required to schedule outdoor-time reminders around your existing calendar events.
• Notifications: Required to deliver smart reminders encouraging you to go outside.

Each permission is requested only when the relevant feature is first used. You may revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking a permission disables the corresponding feature but does not affect other app functionality.

8. Your Right to Delete Your Data

You can permanently delete all data stored by TouchGrass at any time:

1. Open the TouchGrass app.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap Clear Data and confirm.

This action is irreversible and removes all outdoor sessions, settings, goals, and notification history from your device. Uninstalling the app will also remove all locally stored data.

9. Children's Privacy

TouchGrass is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has provided information through the app, please contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's functionality. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
